Los chilenos como pueblo, con toda nuestra idiosincrasia, tenemos una característica que me suele llamar la atención. Es un error que causa risa a muchos, pero cuando uno lo comprueba empíricamente se vuelve una verdadera tragedia.
Nosotros, por naturaleza innata, somos medios estúpidos. Eso no está tan mal si se mira por el positivista lado de que al vivir “rodeado de” uno no se da cuenta de sus propios defectos, pero en realidad son detalles graves para la comunicación.
El fin de semana recién pasado, en una agradable junta de amigos con parrilla incluida, me di cuenta. Vi la luz, como dicen los clichés.
Me percaté que nosotros solemos verificar las respuestas que nos dan aunque el que da esa misma respuesta se muestre seguro de ella.
Por ejemplo; mi amigo A le dijo a mi amigo B.
-“Oye, ayer hablé con la Juanita”.
El tipo B, siguiendo esta ya nombrada tendencia que tenemos le respondió:
-“¿Hablaste con la Juanita?”.
Yo en mi cabeza pensaba con claridad en la repetición del mensaje realizado por el segundo amigo y parecía disco rallado dentro de mi mente.
Luego siguió el trasnoche y de nuevo me percaté de algo similar. Otro amigo, ahora llamémoslo como el C, estaba conociendo a una preciosa muchacha y le pregunta:
-¿Qué música te gusta?.
La mujer, un poco colorada y nerviosa, responde que de todo un poco. Y de nuevo el amigo C le pregunta:
-¿De todo un poco?.
Esa pregunta, que sigue siendo repetición, se puede entender en algo ya que la propia dama respondió de una manera bastante ambigua. Pero después, C le pregunta:
-“Pero que, ¿rock?, ¿electrónica?, ¿reguetón?
Y la chiquilla dijo:
-“mmm, en general, electrónica”.
Entonces C le preguntó:
-¿Electrónica?
Ahí entré en dudas, si es que me estaba dando cuenta de algo oculto y normal dentro de nuestra cultura o estaba en alguna especie de alucinación nocturna.
Pero peor, en la semana yo mismo le pregunté a un compañero cuanto porcentaje para el ramo valía un control X.
Me respondió con simpleza; quince. Y yo, el pelotudo, después de tanto reflexionar de nuestra estupidez le pregunto:
-“¿Quince?”.
¡Pero si me esta diciendo que quince! Y yo el idiota preguntaba su respuesta.
La situación se vuelve tragedia cuando fijándome bien entendí que no era yo el tonto, ni mis amigos. En la U, en la tele, con mis familiares, con otro grupo de amigos, incluso conversando con un taxista esperando micro. Todos, en conversaciones relativamente extensas, cometían el mismo error.
Y como por arte de magia entendí donde estamos, porque nos rodeamos de tanta tontera y acepté tantas críticas que le suelo realizar a nuestro sistema.
Conclusión: no hay caso. Sí, somos naturalmente idiotas los chilenos.
