Lo primero que para comentar es que es una magnífica producción en una infinidad impresionante de aspectos. Su factura técnica es deslumbrante; musicalización, montaje, continuidad, dirección, etc., todos aspectos impecables. El guión está finamente cuidado y elaborado, contiene detalles peculiares (como el capítulo que dicen solo fuck como palabra de diálogo mientras resuelven un caso), el shiiiiiiit del senador es genial, la trama está pensada de principio a fin sin improvisaciones, las interpretaciones son excelentes en algunos casos como el de Idris Elba, Robert Wisdom o Felicia Pearson, tiene un soundtrack inteligente que usa la misma canción de Tom Waits (Way down in the hole) en distintas versiones para cada temporada según corresponda al estilo de lo siguiente que se mostrará y el abanico de personajes desarrollados con cierta profundidad, que deben interactuar entre si para dar paso a los hechos, es enorme. Pues si, es además honesta, certera, hiperrealista. Pues no es juez y por ello, su indiferencia le confiere un aire de distinción respecto a otras.

La pretenciosa creación desde el autor David Simon es el resultado de su propia experiencia de vida como periodista en el periódico The Baltimore Sun y por ello todo sucede ahí, localizado. Su origen se constituyó sin pensar en proyección de las audiencias y eso se nota bastante. Es como que no hay interés de que te guste, sino que juegan en la filosofía y la confianza de que mi producto es lo que es y punto: si te gusta bien y si no, bien también.

A pesar de aquellos miles de puntos extraordinarios y notables que posee y que la hace acaparar las mejores críticas en este formato de TV, la serie es como un túnel de letargo. Los personajes se salen de sí mismos haciendo cosas que no hacen las personas naturales, carece de una mínima pisca de humor (cuando hay algo de esto es en contexto de risas burlonas por algo no amigable), no divierte ni entretiene, los hilos conductores son repetidos y comunes. Es lenta, amarga, tampoco muestra el lado científico de la policía forense y todo lo que eso conlleva. Además cuenta la historia como si la seguridad y las policías o el crimen organizado son el único tema de una autoridad gobernante. Es enrevesada, hay elementos de la vida real sobre explotados (como el hecho de que los jefes obstruyen las investigaciones por ego propio) que le quitan credibilidad por el cómo suceden. Es fría, gris, opaca, sin gracia ni carisma. Es pesada y cuesta tomarla porque es forzada desde su génesis y de un planteamiento trillado, algo brumoso: ni todos malos, ni todos buenos.

Imposible olvidar el asesinato de Omar. De alto impacto. El más temido, el más ético, el más poderoso y sólido termina liquidado por un menor de 6 años. Un pequeño asesino instruido en ese conductismo de violencia.

De forma muy intrincada y elaborada la serie nos muestra al final la tesis del continuo; todo cambia para que siga igual. La humanidad como un circo sempiterno de lucha de poderes que permanece fijo a pesar del paso sucesivo de personajes que se creen especiales, únicos o elegidos en su categoría, como Avan o Stringer, Burrell o Rawls, Jay o Herc.

Tomás es un genio de la pluma. Me tuvo cagao de la risa todo el rato de lectura. El libro es como una montaña rusa. Pasaron sus momentos hasta que llegué a la parte de la fire woman y me recargué de la risa de nuevo. Me emocionó muchísimo el capítulo de Fiji. Y el final, me hizo reír a carcajadas.

Leí la novela con calma y tranquilidad. Cabalga bien la novela con una prosa que avanza. Esta fue mi segunda lectura, la primera fue muy rápida, espaciada y distraída. Rescato el desenlace, me gustó bastante, bien logrado. Es un buen cierre para un libro entretenido. Me agradó el tono, cercano, esa narración en primera persona, para el lector actual, es clave. También la honestidad con la que el autor se involucra en la historia.
